2007 may have been the best year gaming has ever seen; Halo 3, BioShock, Rock Band, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin’s Creed all knocked our socks off with genre-evolving design and through-the-roof production values.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (LucasArts)
LucasArts was pretty quiet last year, only releasing one new Star Wars title–a Battlefront sequel for the PSP. But they promise to make up for that lacking line-up this year with the sci-fi saga’s Force-fueled next-gen debut. Utilizing top physics tech, this one’s all about showing your adversaries the business end of the mystical magic. As Darth Vader’s secret apprentice you’ll push, pull, toss and throat-crush your way through an original storyline highlighting a timeline between Episodes III and IV.
Indiana Jones (LucasArts)
George’s game-making army isn’t messing around this year, as Lucas’ other prized property also enters the next-gen universe with a whip-cracking, relic-hunting experience that could give Indy’s big screen return a run for its fortune and glory. Expect plenty of puzzling, fisticuffs and seat-of-your-pants adventure, all supported by a ground-breaking physics engine ensuring Indy’s world and its inhabitants act and react with scary realism.
